I love: science, math, dinosaurs, books, picnics, giraffes, awesome poetry, Europe, triangles, and love. I hate: meat and animal biproducts, the words "retard", "moist", and "gay", hypocrisy, and poor grammar. |
I finally saw Where the Wild Things Are, and I fucking loved it. It is officially on my “successful books turned movie” movie list. Which is an extremely short list, most likely because I get so disappointed when I see the movie after the book, that I just don’t bother to see the movie. I heard so many reviews saying that the movie was a huge let down. I completely disagree, and I had the bar set pretty high, having looked forward to this movie for nearly two years, ever since I found out they were making the movie. Yes, it was a bit dark and not a children’s movie, but honestly, I liked it better that way, it’s like the book grew with our generation and it was fabulous. It kind of reminded me of Donnie Darko, of how when you first see it and only look at the surface, you think “damn this is depressing” but when you look further you can see the true beauty and it’s fabulous. And I want to watch this movie again and again and again.
Also, here’s my short list of successful books turned movie movies: Atonement; Harry Potter 1, 2, and 3; I guess the 4th Harry Potter was decent; Where the Wild Things Are; I hope to add Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland here, Disney’s Alice was disney-esquce but I’m hoping Tim Burton gets the true strangeness of the book and I’m sure he will.
And I’m sure that list is missing something, but maybe not. For the most part, every book that I’ve read and been excited to see the movie, I have been horridly disappointed with.
My throat is sore. It better not be the fucking swine.
Absolutely wonderful.
Currently- Building a dino and other random nonsense.
Tonight- Backseat Goodbye/Goot show and not physics.
Tomorrow- Where the Wild Things Are, complete with crowns and whiskers because it’s time for the wild rumpus!
Saturday- Playdate with Andrea. I’m lost track of the game plan since we change it every so often and keep adding random to it. Oreos will be involved.
Sunday- Quite possibly vegan nom pizza. And the homework that I’ve spent forever procrastinating on.
